Is OSHA really doing a good job?

Unsafe working conditions are why we have rules and regulations set in the workplace, By OSHA and other government companies to keep you safe. One of these being workers comp which factors in unsafe working conditions, so if you get injured on the job and need to take off you can. However, with workers comp in place it allows for employees to have a sense of security, which will then allow for a more positive work environment where they can vibe out and chill. It also allows for compensation when injured on the job, this then allows for people to relax and take a chill pill. So, they can heal and not risk further injuring themselves because they are worried about not getting paid and can’t support their families with no money.

OSHA has a very strict set of rules and regulations that businesses have to follow about safety, there are no if ands or butts about it of course though the companies. Are allowed to have their own set of rules set in place as well. They have a list called workers' rights on their main page, when searching about the safety protocol guideline. One of the rights being “getting the proper workplace safety and health training in a language you understand”. Which is very important because we live in a very diverse society and not everyone can speak or understand English. Another example that was found is “refuse to work in a situation in which you would be exposed to a hazard". There should never be an instance where a person has to do something that could cause them bodily harm or expose themselves to a matter that can cause lasting effects.

Workers' comp is a safety net for employees when they get injured on the job, so they don’t have to worry about finances, which for some people is a really big deal especially when they have a family to support. Workers comp also deals in medical treatment, vocational rehabilitation, The reason they help with medical bills depends on the severity and what the companies offer when it comes to insurance. When it comes to vocational rehabilitation this is what the VA offers veterans, and active-duty members for when they get injured. Although they have all these great other amenities the main focus is compensation, when you’re injured on the job you have the opportunity to rest and still make money. This is very important so you don’t push yourself, to where you could potentially injure yourself more. It allows you to chill out and heal and not worry about the little things in life. Which you can focus on healing your injured and getting back to one hundred percent.

Any place could have a positive or negative work environment but with workers comp, even though not directly correlated to having an effect on it. There are still ways that it could cause a positive work environment, for example managers and the company could give rewards for being safe. This would cause workers to work safer so they can receive these rewards, which depending on how many days safe they are can vary. A lot of companies use this tactic for example Home Depot has a three hundred- and sixty-five-day safe reward. The way they track this is by having a board with the possible rewards you can receive, which allows for the employees to see it every day they walk and strive towards it. Another great example of what they have to do to enforce a positive work environment, is they give out homers which if you receive a certain number of them, you get compensation. So, it encourages all the employees to wear things like gloves, safety glasses and use the safety knife they are given when they start their job there.

In any case there are many ideas OSHA uses to compensate you for unsafe working conditions and workers comp being the main contributor to that. It also has many subcategories in it too like, vocational rehabilitation, safety training videos, and many more. They have these set-in place so that if you do get injured on the job you don’t have anything to worry about. Which for a lot of people is the difference between going into work or resting.

OSHA

In conclusion, to protect you from unsafe working conditions OSHA has implemented workers comp, so you have that sense of job security, receive valuable compensation for your injury, and it allows for employees to have a sense of relaxation and get themselves back to full health. These are all very important to the workforce, because if you’re injured you need to know that you are covered and safe by law.

Why Parents Need to Shut the H*ll Up and Let Schools Teach LGBT Sex Education

Africa Studio / Shutterstock Across the country recently, there has been an increasing pushback on having LGBTQ+ topics in schools.    Famously, Florida’s Parental Rights in Education Act has caused a lot of controversy, with critics calling it the “Don’t Say Gay” law. It prohibits “classroom instruction” about “sexual orientation or gender identity” for kindergarten through grade 3 and instruction that is “not age appropriate or developmentally appropriate.”    Laws like this one are incredibly vague and may be twisted by people who don’t like the LGBTQ+ community. This kind of legislation is pushing the country in the wrong direction.   According to the American Psychological Association , c urriculum laws that are against the LGBTQ+ community are based on stereotypes and outdated information and they limit access to helpful public health information.   We should be trying to make schools inclusive of the queer community. While I know this idea applies t...

The Only Way Is Right : Fixing America by Fixing the Children and Their "Loneliness"

I still remember the first and only time I was summoned to the principal’s office. The weather was sunny, yet cold, much like the dread flowing through my patriotic heart .  It’s a wonder I wasn’t being convicted for any actual crimes, considering the liberal witch who was my ‘teacher’ at the time. I exited the room, ignoring her empty-hearted attempts to soothe my nerves. The woke hoodwinker was just trying to get me to trust her, so she could induct me into her cult of radical   lunatics .    The witch was wrong, of course. Because this was the first day I had ever seen my mother cry, as she had broken down in tears over finding the notes I wrote in middle school detailing my first suicide attempt.    As much as the woke CDC’s research can be trusted, they say suicide was the leading cause of death for stupid little 10–14-year-olds in 2020. These weak, selfish brats will be refer red to as tweenagers, since they do not deserve the re...

The role media plays in racism (Revised)

Growing up there was this ongoing joke in my family that the reason I liked Dora so much as a kid was because I looked like her. Even though this was just a silly little joke to comment on the way that I looked as a kid, it does hold some truth. Growing up, the reason I did enjoy watching Dora was because she was a character that I could relate to; she spoke Spanish, had short black hair, and had darker skin color than most of the cartoons that were on at the time. But, as I got older and grew out of my Dora phase I found that it was very hard to find characters in media that looked like me. When I was finally able to find some sort of media that had a character that I could relate to, the character was poorly written and was just a bunch of stereotypes. We see in society today that racial biases have not gone away, media outlets perpetuating racial stereotypes are not helping the case of removing racial biases. I recently finished watching Modern Family. I loved the show but as I was ...
